The research doesn’t have to be earth shattering, although we will be choosing the best ones. Perhaps something along the lines of comparing and contrasting the double lifts in Expert Card Technique, a paper documenting all the times that Jay Sankey uses the Erdnase Color Change in his most recent video and for what purposes, a complete bibliography of the published works of Tony Chang, a list of the secret ends that a half pass can accomplish (switch, force, change, ?), etc. Have fun, be clever, and make it short and interesting.

In addition to the registration discount, you may also have the opportunity to present your research at the convention, if you are so inclined.

Research papers must be submitted by Sunday, February 27, so you have time to book your plane travel to what will be a very awesome experience!

The Last Greatest Magician in the World: Howard Thurston versus Houdini & the Battles of the American Wizards by Jim Steinmeyer is now available.

The exhibit will breath daily as a “conceptual magic shop” where Kaino and DelGaudio will develop magic tricks based on suggestions from guests visiting the gallery as part of their piece, Ready to Be Made.

The Illusionist is one of a dying breed of stage entertainers. Watching his performance for the excited villagers who are celebrating the arrival of electricity on their remote island, Alice is awestruck by his show and believes his tricks are real magic. Though they donthusiasm for his act, The Illusionist rewards Alice with increasingly lavish gifts he has ‘conjured’ into existence. Desperate not to disappoint her, he cannot bring himself to reveal that magic does not exist and that he pretend. Untangled from his own web of deceit, he resumes his life as a much wiser man.

Opens in New York and Los Angeles on December 25th.

…when I started off my TV career I was overstating the case, overstating my skills. I thought there’ll only be one show, there’ll never be a repeat, so I might as well go for it. But as I became better-known, I felt there were two things really. One is a moral responsibility to the public to be honest, and to find out what level of honesty is right for me as an entertainer, when I’m kind of a magician, so there’s a licence to deceive but at the same time – well, it’s complicated. And the other thing was I didn’t want to give myself an ulcer. Psychics who spend their careers being ‘psychic’, well they’re living a lie, and I didn’t want to be that guy doing that. I didn’t want to be constantly being a fraud. I just didn’t want to be that guy, it’s not me.”
